Mind your mouth (Time Out)

TimeOut, Feb 2015 //

I wrote a blog for TimeOut responding to Giles Coren’s recent column on Mindfulness. Although Coren was quite good fun about the piece on Twitter, and I got some nice messages about it, I feel it veers towards the smugger-than-thou / here’s-why-you’re-wrong science writing that I loathe, so I probably won’t be doing this sort of thing again.

I also was invited to discuss the issue on the BBC World Service programme Newshour, but declined when it turned out I would be debating with a rent-a-gob who believes meditation is a waste of time/ the same as praying… It’s a shame producers of such shows seem to always want an extreme view, rather than simply the contributions of experts and people with genuine experience of the topic at hand.
